Have you try motorcycle race ?

How about flat track race?

MID-AMERICA SPEEDWAY has race on October 6th.

Competitor ages: 5 ~ Over 70.
Machine: Single and twin motor. 2stroke 4stroke, almost everything.
Race Classes: 50cc PW class to open class.

They have lot's of classes on going at one night. Let them know what bike you have! They'll arrangement for your classes.

It is simple competition. We go round flat dirt oval, nothing difficult. But it is really hard to win. That's gonna make this racing world very deep.

What can I say about dirt track is just FUN TO RIDE. I never felt it's bored run around oval track. Because every laps never be the same.

Street ride is fun. Yard ride is also. But once you've tried this race, it is the most exciting moment will start.

You don't have to go fast from first try. You don't have to have professional tuner's race bike. Let's try to ride first. MID-AMERICA SPEEDWAY is best local track in Indianapolis.

You will see what is "no speed limit" meaning. And you can feel it once you've tried why we like this.

Come and see the race!

Behind story.

After installed KFR Ex.big valve. This motor has webcam high lift camshaft.

We checking valve clearance by clay just to make sure.

Plenty of clearance.
IN:0.0827" (2.1mm, right side of picture.)
EX:0.114" (2.9mm, left side.)

----------------------------------------------------

When KFR designed this exhaust big valve, it had little story.

Idea was started from year of 2010. Koji had two triggers. One was he got his own TW. And another one was his friend Shinji Kazama who made North pole ridden by TW200 based bike. Koji met him again when he visited the US in summer time. It happened almost same time.

He rode bicycle that time from Indianapolis to Toronto, Canada. (And that ride ended at Sweden, Europe!! He is the challenger forever.)

We had couple of condition. But most part is this,

"Higher performance and stay in reasonable."

So, valve material choice is stainless steel, and valve size goes just over 0.039"(1mm).

This cylinder head has more space for exhaust side so we could go more larger. The larger valve size will be better if we going to get more horse power but we did not want to replace valve seat ring. Also light weight titanium valve will make good effect on high revolution but this solid material is aggressive to seat ring. Seat ring replace is very sensitive work and lot's of labor. Just replace the valve will be so much cheaper and easy work.

This thought is same even national race class motor. Those engine builders changed from titanium valve to stainless steel big valve.
(*Over size valve is not allow on GNC singles class any more.)

We decided design by this reason, for more durability and "total" running performance.

KFR exhaust big valve can install only by seat cutting job.  We are welcome to service your cylinder head if you don't have any place to work on it. Just let us know.

Also we service WPC treatment to KFR valve and other engine parts with additional price.

This motor has much more possibility so, of course we can make more horse power if you want but just don't forget one thing. It is TW.

Having coffee break with "special cylinder head" TW.

KFR first product release!

Exhaust big valve for Yamaha TW200, TT-R225-230.(*Picture front. Back side is yamaha's stock.)

1.0mm larger than stock.

$32 per piece plus tax (Indiana residents only) and shipping.
Ships from Indianapolis, IN

*Limited quantity

"I would try to go if no one try that line." When Koji is riding on oval track, his thoughts go many ways and that is one of his thoughts.

That racing mind created this exhaust big valve for Yamaha TW200, TTR225-230 and more models.

Recent top dirt track race machines are run by a really high performance motor from Japanese 450cc Motocross bike. Those motors are great for racing. But also make high running cost to keep up that performance level.

Race bike will keep going up higher performance with cost. It means getting step far away from street bike and riders who want to try to start race.

We'd like to make more people enjoy the race and customize their own bike with reasonable cost.

Our answer is here. We are happy to introduce this big valve for Yamaha TW and TT-R engine that two valve SOHC designed motor.

"Race bike for race, race for race bike." That is OK, pure racing model exists already. TT-R or TW are not for that purpose but very good model for beginning level low budget racer and mechanic. Koji decided to produce this part because of that reason. And, he started to have interest to how "his donkey" can go faster. (maybe that is his main reason!)

It gives you more exciting high revolution power with other tuning combination.
We are happy to share this product for your bike and make your imagination a success!

Notice: It is built for high performance racing engines. Because of potential abuse, no warranty is offered.

*Other model fits by Yamaha OEM parts number 5H0-12121-00(or 01)-00

We took off gear and starter motor. This bike is kick start only now.
It makes over 2lb lighter easy.

This is another "tuning version" motor. It will be fun!

WPC Treatment.

Transmission after WPC treatment

We never thought use this treatment to TW motor, but how interest is that if TW going run around on oval track with really good speed !? Let's see!

WPC treatment is metal surface treatment technology from Japan since 90’s. What we have interest are this treatment technology is very unique. (as Furuhashi Racing!) It would reduce friction and make more durability.

Please check out this movie.

We look forward about treatment will last longer than any other "coating" stuff. It  isn't make dimensional change so, WPC treatment can treat piston rings, nikasil cylinder and all .0005" or under accuracy part of motor.

WPC Treated transmission shaft.

We keep playing..
We wish you can touch this smooth surface feel.

Inside of motor technology is kind like a secret part in racing world usually. But race technology is feedback to automotive world, that's why racing exist for. We'd like to share some, and for your motor life going happy. Actually, WPC technology is into manufacture's production already.

We feel good when motor runs well. Very simple thing from old days. WPC treatment would help that.

Let us know if you have any question, or if you want to try WPC treatment.

Motorcycle season is open!

It's been long time. Indiana having warm and hot days.

We are keep in busy by so many thing but TW project is underway step by step slowly.

Right side end is OEM.

These locker arms are ground by hand (power) tool for lighter weight. Weight difference is just about ounces lighter than stock. This work will not much increase HP numerically, but it's just like diet for human. It help runs lighter for motor if grind right away. Motorcycle manufacture make this parts very solid for street use purpose and that's right for them. However when we focusing more high performance, that will not perfect answer. Furuhashi racing will make best turning balance between these two factor that "durability and high performance" by purpose.

Next process is WPC treatment.

We'll keep push to the best.

Parts clean up.

We have to wait parts arrive most in April.

Motor is already split and we had a another work so, decide make little better looking clutch case cover.

Clean off paint and washed.
Put on some putty and sanding after dry.

Splayed surfacer.

Sanding and sanding..

After splayed black paint.

Things were never going through easy. When we waiting paint dry. Some bird was came and "bomb attacked" this cover. We did start over again these process. Second try wasn't better than first.

Koji: [I love "YAKI-TORI" more than before.]

Back in position after all. Picture shows lot of finger prints but it's looks better.

Electrical issue.

We found after all Electrical diagnosis that needs new coil.

This stator coil cost too much and back order "in Japan". We decided to replace all this old Electrical wires to latest model wire system. That wasn't cost difference much and faster we thought.

Then we found it has three kinds stator coil exit. And that mean three kind of crankcase cover and fly wheels.

Early model coil.

2nd & 3rd generation coil and cover. You can see these two has different mount wholes.

Three generation of Fly wheels.
Left is oldest, right is latest.

This is final shape before piece put back to body.

TW was came out 1987. This one is '89. Yamaha changed only these Electrical system. Now, we can tell this motor is same as latest model!

All TW wire diagrams. Another fun time.

All wire harness switched newer. C.D.I  unit also new.

We doesn't change control switches so, many wire and coupler connection needs change like pictures. We will change control switch too if we have next chance. That saves lot's of time.

Put back with new screw bolts.

What we changed: wire harness(used. came with relays & regulator), CDI, crankcase cover(used) and stator coil for after 2001~ model.

Carious tooth.

Keep split parts.

Simple is best.

74mm piston required crankcase bored out. We split crankcase and found these worn out gears. It just looks like carious tooth.

Transmission gear

We know it is still work but decide to replace all gears (and bearings). More time and more cost, It was not expected but safety first. We don't want to see any mechanical trouble on the road, oval track or any other extreme place.

These bolts were off from this motor.

Right size tools and right maintenance would not make like these bolts. We service for you if you don't have time or tools.  (Contact information is on furuhashiracing.com )

Bearing fitting

We waiting all gears and bearings parts will arrive.

Motor work.

We working on yamaha air cooled 200cc motor.

It was a rough shape when we picked up.

We decided to re-fresh motor for street and off road use. But Koji found this tire fits. Things going much more interest for dirt-track!

but first, bike has no spark. (We'll put on article for Electrical issue later.)

The plan will going to stroke up and bored out from 196cc to 249cc. Also we make original big valve for this motor. It's sounds going to be like racing quality motor but reasonable cost is the key as this bike. We are plan to this tune will be service through from Furuhashi Racing to all motorcyclist.

"Big valve motor makes good top end power. I have to see their tail when I race with those bikes. It is good tune up for motor performance side." Koji says. (*big valve is now prohibit on GNC singles class rules.)

We going to change also High lift camshaft from webcam, valve spring and retainer. SOHC two valve air cooled motor means simple "friendly" motor.

Stock air cooled rotax motor wasn't powerful enough for street bike but turned best motor for GNC dirt track race. Because it had capacity of durability for tune up. This 200cc motor has little space for that way. It will not for latest racing caliber but looks pretty enjoyable for all level users. Let's get some fun and see how it goes!

Bore and stroke size will be 74.0mm x 58.0mm This number as same as yamaha XT250. It could order made racing high compression forged piston but we choose OEM yamaha piston this time. We want to use less than race machine maintenance cycle this bike for street and dirt use. Fun ride is another key.

Stock bore is 67.0mm. It needs bored out with re-sleeve. We are in these process now at LA sleeve

We'll up date all work.
